February 15, 2009 - EARN IT YOURSELF OPENS SUBMISSIONS FOR THE 2009 "EARN IT YOURSELF SPOT"
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE EARN
IT YOURSELF OPENS SUBMISSIONS FOR THE 2009 "EARN
IT YOURSELF” SPOT ON
THE 2009 VANS WARPED TOUR WHILE
WEEKLY ONLINE EIY RADIO SHOW WILL
HIGHLIGHT UP-AND-COMING BANDS
THAT
HAVE APPLIED TO PLAY ON THE STAGE THIS YEAR ALONG
WITH LAUNCHING AN ALL-WARPED DISCUSSION FORUM EACH WEEK Following
last month’s introduction of the EARN IT YOURSELF
SPOT for the 2009 VANS WARPED TOUR, EARNITYOURSELF.com
has announced that submissions are now open for artists to apply to
play on the Vans Warped Tour’s Kevin Says Stage this year.
Utilizing their online profile at www.EARNITYOURSELF.com,
bands are able to submit to be considered to perform at the tour stop
in their region by visiting www.earnityourself.com/warped.
At
each tour stop, one band will be handpicked to perform on the stage
by the tour staff directly, based on the same criteria used in
picking bands that applied to perform in the past. THE EARN IT
YOURSELF SPOT will highlight the hardest-working independent bands
from each region that are successfully building their own careers
from the ground up, earning each of their successes by hard work and
dedication to their craft. In
addition to the EARN IT YOURSELF SPOT, the all-new EARNITYOURSELF.com
will launch a new feature on the site’s weekly online radio
show to highlight bands that have submitted to play the tour. Beyond
showcasing these bands’ music, the radio show will also chat
with the artists directly for their input on the show’s weekly
topic along with their thoughts on the Earn It Yourself philosophy.
Following this new weekly feature, EIY RADIO will then dedicate a
full hour of the show to bands and fans alike for calls and questions
on all-things Warped Tour related. EIY RADIO airs live every Monday
night from 8:00PM – 10:00PM at www.EARNITYOURSELF.com. ABOUT
EARN IT YOURSELF:
Described as “The
Evolution of D.I.Y.” in the July 2005 edition of
Alternative Press Magazine, the EARN IT YOURSELF
philosophy began as a print zine written and published by SARAH
SATURDAY in 2004 after the break-up of her band SAVING FACE. The
idea behind the movement is to teach bands how to use a philosophical
approach to creating their business plan. With the music industry
giants collapsing and the internet making it possible for anyone to
start a band, it’s crucial that bands’ values should be
just as important to fans as their music, all while the individuals
strive to earn their own success and build their careers from the
ground up. ### For
